During her tenure at KATU, Kirsten led a breaking news-focused web team, triaged content priorities, crafted speedy social posts and live streams, wrote nationally syndicated web articles, executed day-to-day news operations, helped develop enterprise stories, and organized major social/digital campaigns with a hand in nearly every aspect of newsroom production.
She was instrumental in spearheading the launch of Facebook Live and executing comprehensive coverage for dozens of major news events including the 2016 presidential election, Portland election and inauguration riots, and the 2017 solar eclipse.
Brought KATU Facebook page to number one in its competitor set each month for total interactions, video views, engagement rate and follower growth -- with a monthly reach of more than 12 million
Doubled KATU's Facebook following in two years, and grew its average monthly video views from about 2 million to 11 million
Grew KATU's Instagram following by 1,000% in 2 years -- organizing a complete strategy overhaul and implementing the regular use of Stories and IGTV
Grew KATU's Twitter following by 141% in 2 years, and implemented the regular use of Periscope's producer function and Twitter Live to bring followers breaking news coverage from Portland and around the world
