Bio.

Kirsten Nicolaisen is a self-taught photographer and journalist based in Brooklyn, New York.

​

Her work largely comprises street and travel photography, and she particularly enjoys documenting life on the beaches of New York and New Jersey. She’s driven by a quest to capture moments of stillness in the chaos of everyday life, and aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and familiarity in her images.

 

Kirsten grew up in a hot, arid suburb of Los Angeles, California, and spent several years in the Pacific Northwest before moving to New York in 2018. She holds a journalism degree from the University of Oregon and — in addition to photography —  has spent the last decade working as an audience journalist, social media expert, and radio host.
